Each zone in the open world has a peculiar mechanism that can only be revealed after you get to them. Genshin activation device locations in Sumeru include a set of difficult puzzles. It all begins when the gamers finish the Dirge of Bilqis and Tadhla the Falcon quest series. In the Safhe Shatranj area, you can actually place five chess pieces. This will activate the Apocalypse Lost quest. Once you are done with the puzzles, then you will be asked for seven Activation Devices. These devices are not in one place but scattered across the Gilded Desert.

Border Fort Device
As you might have guessed, you will have to teleport to Aaru Village’s Waypoint and take a few steps in front of the village chief’s house. You can see the activation device on the ledge over the village to the right of the Gilded Desert closer to the Statue of Seven. As you enter the Safhe Shatranj from the right teleport, the first tile on display will need the Border Fort Activation device.
Khaj-Nisut Device
Once you get back to Khaj-Nisut you will have to utilize Four-Leaf Sigils to make the device visible in front of the ruins’ entry point. For this, you will have to go to the Waypoint teleport location that lies to the left of Khaj-Nisut. For reference go to the place where you saw Eremite Mercenaries in the Golden Slumber quest line. Here you will see grapples. Follow this line and at the end of the line, you can find the device.
Mausoleum of King Deshret Device
This comes only after you have installed the five chess pieces. It is found exactly in front of King Deshret’s mausoleum. To find it you can either teleport to Waypoint or unlock it during Dirge of Dilqis.
Deshret’s Pillar’s Device
Though you might find the location at the mausoleum, but the entrance is via an underground path in Opet Hall. For this, you will have to teleport to the northern waypoint and go up the stairs to get it. At the location, you will find a few stairs toward a doorway next to two giant statues. Keep your path straight and you will find the device in front of the pillar with a blue projection.
Gurabad’s Safhe Shatranj’s Device
To reach the ruins of the temple of Gurabad you will have to teleport to the right of Safhe Shatranj and go left from there. Go up the stairs till you reach the top. Here you can see the entrance to the temple.
In the Gurabad ruins of the temple, you can find a fan-like mechanism that will be used to remove the sand pile in front of the door. Right next to the main door is the activation device which you can follow out and claim it right there.
Khemenu Temple Device
Just like Mt. Damavand, this device will appear once you are done with the introduction to the Indoor Archaeology quest. Inside the temple, the player can move on two paths to get blue orbs for pillars. One path has Jebrael and the other has Jeth and Benben.
Simply teleport to Waypoint and directly go to the room where you meet Jebrael. Walk upstairs and there is the device waiting for you. It will move and go to the Soulferry room. Simply follow it and claim it under the structure.
Mt. Damavand’s Device
In the list of Genshin Activation Device, this device can only be obtained and used after you get the five chess pieces. Locate the device by teleporting to the hidden waypoint in Mt. Damavand. It will move for a while before it becomes obtainable in front of you.
