The Discord platform uses WebRTC protocol to work properly. When there is a network-related problem you are most probably going to face this issue while connecting to a remote server. Now several reasons could trigger this issue, including unstable WiFi, slow internet, the Discord server being offline or missing, device firewall blocking Discord, and other many minor reasons.

Using the following methods, you can now get back to normal.

Give Your Network a Restart

This is the easiest and most simple method. All you have to do is get up and give your Wifi network a fresh start. This helps the equipment to shed all the overheating and overloading, bringing it back to normal.

Here is what you need to do:

1. Unplug the power cords from your modem or router device.
2. Wait for about two to three minutes and replace the cords back. This will show the indicators are back to normal after a wait of a few minutes.
3. Now go to your browser and check the connectivity.
4. Once you can see the internet is connected it is time to check your Discord.

Switch to a Different Browser

If the WiFi reboot is not working it is time to check if there is an issue with your current web browser. The issue could arise from not updating your browser or installing a plugin or extension that contradicts the Discord settings, sometimes it could be cache too.

So the best option in this situation is to switch to a different one. The best ones I use personally are only a few. These include Google Chrome, Firefox, and Brave. Microsoft Edge is not a bad option either. Now if the switching works, then go back to your previous browser disable extensions, and clear cache and cookies. This will fix the problem.

Try Changing DNS Settings

This is one of the important backend functions which ensures the internet is running smoothly without any problems. The default DNS servers assigned by the service providers could sometimes be the reason. Now to overcome this issue. You can either use the default options or change them to the most common and reliable ones. This enhances resolution accuracy as well as improves privacy.

Here is what to do:

1. Press Windows Key and R simultaneously on the keyboard to open Run Box.
2. Here type ‘control ncpa.cpl’ and click ‘Ok.’
3. Here right-click the current network i.e. ‘Ethernet/Wifi’ and select ‘Properties’ from it.
4. From the window that says ‘The connection uses the following items’ locate ‘Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4).’
5. Now here choose ‘Use the following DNA server addresses’ for Preferred DNS server input ‘8.8.8.8’ and for alternate DNS server ‘8.8.4.4.’
6. Click ‘OK’ to save the changes that have been made.
7. Now go to your taskbar and type ‘CMD’ in the search bar and here choose ‘Run as Administrator.’
8. In the window write ‘ipconfig /flushdns’ and press Enter button on the keyboard.

Now go back and check your Discord connection it should work this time.

Disable Your Firewall

A firewall on Windows OS helps you by preventing unauthorized users from accessing files and resources on your computer. While executing what it is designed for, it may sometimes block harmless traffic too. But you can disable it to see if the RTC Connecting error is not because of it.

Here is how to do it:

1. On the keyboard press Windows Key and R at the same time.
2. Type ‘control firewall.cpl’ and hit ‘OK’
3. Now from the left-hand-side menu choose the ‘Turn Windows Defender Firewall on or off’ option.
4. Here choose ‘Turn off Windows Defender Firewall (not recommended)’ for Domain network, Private Network, and Public network.
5. Tap/click ‘OK’ once more.

Now check the Discord connection to ensure it is working safely.
